NAPNAP Elaine Gelman Scholarship Award

The purpose of the NAPNAP Foundation is to support nursing research efforts, which contribute to the improvement of the quality of life for children and their families. This award is named after Elaine Gelman, CPNP, who worked for many years to advance the NP profession. She was instrumental in obtaining statutory authority for NPs in New York in 1988. Elaine will be remembered for her dedication to the maintenance of both high standards for clinical competency within the profession and the spirit of political activism. Applicants must be full or part time NP Students enrolled in an accredited NP program with an expected graduation date of two years or less. Preference will be given to applicants in a PNP program or those with interest or experience in health policy or advocacy.

NAPNAP McNeil Annual Scholarship Award

The purpose of the NAPNAP Foundation is to support nursing research efforts, which contribute to the improvement of the quality of life for children and their families. Through the generosity of the McNeil Consumer Products Company, NAPNAP awards two of these scholarships to selected applicants enrolled in pediatric nurse practitioner programs. Applicants must be NAPNAP members, have at least three years previous work experience in pediatrics, and must demonstrate financial need.

NAPNAP McNeil Rural Scholarship Award

The purpose of the NAPNAP Foundation is to support nursing research efforts, which contribute to the improvement of the quality of life for children and their families. Through the sponsorship of the McNeil Consumer Healthcare Division, NAPNAP awards this scholarship to selected PNP students who plan on practicing in a rural geographical region for the first two years after he/she completes their PNP education. Applicants must be registered nurses and members of NAPNAP with at least one year previous work experience in pediatrics, and accepted to a recognized Master's program or a Post-Master's PNP program, and must demonstrate financial need.

National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) Foundation Grant

The purpose of the NAPNAP Foundation is to support nursing research efforts, which contribute, to the improvement of the quality of life for children and their families. Through the awarding of grant funds, the Foundation encourages research in professional nursing practice and the dissemination of nursing knowledge. The Foundation fosters a professional climate that values and encourages scientific investigation and critical thinking among nurses who deliver services to children and their families. Up to two Foundation grants of $2,500 each will be awarded annually. In addition, one grant of $1,000 will be awarded to a student currently enrolled in an accredited pediatric nurse practitioner graduate program.

National Federation of the Blind Scholarships for Blind Students

The National Federation of the Blind has the largest scholarship program for legally blind post-secondary students in the country. The Federation grants thirty scholarships annually to legally blind persons in higher education from college freshmen to doctoral candidates. Federation scholarship winners also win a trip to the organization's annual convention and the opportunity to develop mentoring relationships with the nation's most dynamic leaders of the blind community. Winning a Federation scholarship is a lifetime distinction since winners must compete in a pool of 500 applicants. Winning is also an honor since the selection process is performed by successful blind persons.

National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) Scholarship Program

The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) has an education budget of $1,000,000. The NIAF will award scholarships and grants to outstanding students in the summer for use during the following academic year. The awards will be made on the basis of academic merit and divided between two groups of students: (1) Italian American students who demonstrate outstanding potential and high academic achievements. Area of study: open. (2) Those students from any ethnic background majoring or minoring in Italian language, Italian studies, Italian American studies or a related field, who demonstrate outstanding potential and high academic achievements.

National JACL Headquarters Scholarship

The JACL began its National Scholarship and Awards Program in 1946. In line with past generations of Japanese Americans, the JACL recognizes education as a key to greater opportunities for its members. The program currently offers over 30 awards, with an annual total of over $60,000 in scholarships to qualified students nationwide. The National Scholarship and Awards Program offer scholarships to students at the entering freshman, undergraduate, graduate, law, financial need and creative & performing arts.
