North Carolina Nurse Education Scholarship Loan Program

These awards are available through the financial aid offices of North Carolina colleges and universities that offer nurse education programs which prepare students for licensure in North Carolina as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or a Registered Nurse (RN). Applicants must be US citizens and NC residents. Recipients enter into a contract with the State of North Carolina to work full time as licensed nurses in North Carolina. A minimum of six months consecutive full-time employment with one employer is required to qualify for service cancellation.

North Dakota Board of Nursing Education Loan Program

This is a loan for North Dakota residents who are students in associate, bachelors and masters degree programs in nursing. It also is available to graduate nurse students pursuing a doctorate and nurses enrolled in a refresher course. The recipient must agree to repay the loan by nursing employment in the state of North Dakota. The repayment rate is one dollar per hour of employment. Faculty members on a full-time contract will receive 2,080 hours per year.

Northeast Georgia Health System Cancelable Loan Nurses Program

The Northeast Georgia Health System Service Cancelable Loan program addresses the critical shortage of Registered Nurses (RN), particularly in northeast Georgia. Students who become RNs after successfully completing the program and passing the licensing exam can cancel all or part of their loan debt by working full-time for the Northeast Georgia Health System for a specified length of time. The nurses receive their full salary in addition to canceling their loan debt. Graduates who do not fulfill the service obligation must repay their loans, plus interest, where applicable. Individuals interested in participating in this program should contact the financial aid office at one of the following eligible schools: North Georgia College & State University, Brenau University, Piedmont College, or the Augusta Campus of the Medical College of Georgia.

Nurses' Educational Funds Scholarships

Nurses’ Educational Funds, Inc. (NEF) is a not-for-profit organization which seeks and distributes funds to baccalaureate-prepared registered nurses who are in need of scholarship assistance for graduate study. The NEFs Board of Directors, which administers the funds, is comprised of prominent people in various fields, the majority of which are nurses. To qualify for an NEF award, an applicant must be a registered nurse; a member of a professional nursing association; a U.S. citizen; and enrolled full-time in a professionally NLNAC or CCNE accredited nursing master’s degree program or enrolled full- or part-time in a doctoral program in nursing or a nursing related field.

Nursing Education BSN Loan/Scholarship Program – Mississippi

This program is available to junior and senior students who are residents of Mississippi pursuing a baccalaureate degree in nursing as well as to licensed registered nurses who wish to continue their education to the baccalaureate degree. Recipient agrees to employment in professional nursing (patient care) in Mississippi upon graduation. The service commitment is one year's service in professional nursing for one year of loan received.

The National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses Foundation supports the goals and mission of NAON by providing grants, scholarships, and awards to nurses pursuing careers in orthopaedic research. This award is offered to support education of a NAON member in the legislative process in order to influence health policy on State and Federal levels through an endowed scholarship. The Oregon Nurses Association is the voice of nursing in Oregon. A professional association and labor union, ONA has stood for the integrity of the nursing profession for over 90 years and continues to represent thousands of registered nurses who are speaking up for improved patient care, better working conditions for all nurses, and quality health care delivery systems. The foundation promotes a healthy community by acquiring and distributing funds to support excellence in nursing practice, research education and community service. This trust account was opened in 1977 and will be active until 2052. At that time the remainder of the funds will be distributed to the National Kidney Foundation of Oregon. In the meantime the trust is able to dispense funds to single, female RNs in Oregon (not LPNs) who wish to continue their education in the nursing profession.

Supported by Pfizer Oncology and named after Ann Olson, an oncology sales representative who dies of cancer in 1989, this scholarship was established to improve oncology nursing by assisting the RN in fulfilling their education. ONS Foundation – Josh Gottheil Memorial Bone Marrow Transplant Career Development Awards

Supported by the Josh Gottheil Memorial Fund for Lymphoma Research, which was established by Dr. and Mrs. Gottheil in memory of their son, Josh, who died of lymphoma in 1991, these four awards reward selected RNs for meritorious practice in bone marrow transplant nursing by providing financial assistance to attend a continuing-education program(s) that will further his or her professional goals or to supplement tuition in a bachelor's or master's program. The candidate currently must be employed as an RN working in BMT with a minimum 75% of his or her time devoted to patient care or in the position of nurse manager, nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, or BMT coordinator and must have two or more years in BMT nursing practice. An individual cannot receive this award more than one time.
