Tuition Waiver for Foster Care Recipients

This award is open to certain student under the age of 21 who have resided in a foster care home in the state of Maryland. Applicants must have resided in a foster care home in Maryland at the time he/shoe graduated from high school or successfully completed a general equivalency development examination (GED); or must have resided in a Maryland foster care home on his/her 14th birthday and were then adopted after his/her 14th birthday. Applicants must enroll as degree-seeking students at a public two-year or four-year higher education institution in Maryland on or before age 21.

Tylenol Future Care Scholarship

For twenty-one years, the makers of Tylenol have supported students pursing a career in the healthcare industry. This program awards thirty scholarships of $5,000 each and ten scholarships of $10,000 each. Applicants must be residents of the fifty United States, Puerto Rico or the District of Columbia; they must have completed at least one year of undergraduate or graduate course of study at an accredited two or four year college, university or technical school; and must have one or more years of school remaining. Employees of McNeil Consumer Healthcare Division of McNEIL-PPC, Inc., ISTS, Inc., their affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies and the families of each are not eligible. An independent selection committee will evaluate the applications and select the winners based on the following criteria: college GPA; academic records in public health/health education, med school, nursing and/or pharmacy; community involvement/volunteer service; and the content of the applicant's essay.

University Health Systems Health Careers Academic Loan Program

University Health Systems has established a Health Careers Academic Loan program to encourage residents of eastern North Carolina to complete a course of study leading to a degree or certification as a health professional. Students who accept these loans must agree to enter employment with University Health Systems for a defined period of time after completion of the course of study. Repayment of loans is waived upon completion of the work commitment. Opportunities are available at six hospitals and with other health services throughout eastern North Carolina.

VAMortageCenter.com Military Education Scholarship

VAMortgageCenter.com offers five bi-yearly scholarships in conjunction with their Military Education Scholarship Program. Eligible applicants include current and prospective ROTC program students, active-duty military personnel with plans to attend college, honorably discharged veterans of the US military, sons and daughters of veterans, and active duty military. Virginia C. Phillips Scholarships

The Virginia C. Phillips Scholarship Fund was established in 1979 to honor Ms. Phillips, a nursing leader in South Carolina whose contributions to nursing and public health nursing are many and varied. She held numerous leadership positions in SCDHEC including State Director of Public Health Nursing from 1972-1979. She also served as President of SCNA from 1963-1965. A scholarship is awarded each year to an undergraduate and a graduate nursing student committed to pursuing a career in community health nursing/public health nursing.

Walter and Marie Schmidt Scholarship

This award is open to Oregon residents who are students enrolling in programs to become registered nurses and intending to pursue careers in geriatric health care. The Health Professional Loan Repayment program was created to address the critical shortage of health care professionals in Washington State. Wisconsin Higher Educational Aid Board Nursing Student Loan Program

The Nursing Student Loan Program provides loans to Wisconsin residents who are enrolled at least half-time at an eligible in-state institution that prepares them to be licensed as nurses, either RN or LPN. The student who participates in this program must agree to be employed as a licensed nurse in Wisconsin. For each of the first two years the student works as a nurse and meets the eligibility criteria, 25% of the loan is forgiven. The balance remaining after forgiveness must be repaid at an interest rate of 5%. If the student does not practice nursing and meets the eligibility criteria, the loan must be repaid at an interest rate of 5%.

Wisconsin League for Nursing / Blue Cross Blue Shield Nursing Scholarships

The Wisconsin League for Nursing and Blue Cross Blue Shield Wisconsin offer this scholarship program to help address the critical nursing shortage and provide financial assistance to aspiring nurses throughout the state. The scholarships are for Wisconsin students who have completed at least one half of the credits necessary for graduation from NLNAC accredited BSN, ADN or LPN programs in Wisconsin. To apply for the scholarship, students must contact their dean for an application and write a one page letter to assist the WLN Scholarship Committee in making their selection. The student should address the following areas: Scholastic ability; professional activities and/or community service; understanding the nursing profession; career goals; and financial need.
