Atlantic Health System is one of New Jersey's largest nonprofit health care systems, comprised of Overlook Hospital, Morristown Memorial Hospital, and Mountainside Hospital. Through the Tomlinson Endowment for Professional Development, the last one to two years of a nursing student's tuition can be covered in exchange for a commitment to work for Morristown Memorial Hospital upon graduation. Open to students in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Touchmark Foundation Nursing Scholarship

The Touchmark Foundation's nursing scholarship program focuses on nursing students at all levels, with a particular interest in students pursuing advanced degrees in order to teach and students intending to work with seniors. Students must be accepted into or enrolled in an accredited nursing program. Applicants are required to submit a completed application form, personal essay, professional/personal recommendations, and financial need assessment. All application information and forms are available on the Foundation web site. Evaluations are based on an applicant's career interest, employment history, volunteer experience, and financial need. Applicants may apply for/receive one scholarship per academic year.

Tuition Waiver for Foster Care Recipients

This award is open to certain student under the age of 21 who have resided in a foster care home in the state of Maryland. Applicants must have resided in a foster care home in Maryland at the time he/shoe graduated from high school or successfully completed a general equivalency development examination (GED); or must have resided in a Maryland foster care home on his/her 14th birthday and were then adopted after his/her 14th birthday. Applicants must enroll as degree-seeking students at a public two-year or four-year higher education institution in Maryland on or before age 21.

University Health Systems Health Careers Academic Loan Program

University Health Systems has established a Health Careers Academic Loan program to encourage residents of eastern North Carolina to complete a course of study leading to a degree or certification as a health professional. Students who accept these loans must agree to enter employment with University Health Systems for a defined period of time after completion of the course of study. Repayment of loans is waived upon completion of the work commitment. Opportunities are available at six hospitals and with other health services throughout eastern North Carolina.

VA Predoctoral Nurse Fellowship Program

The purpose of this fellowship program is to assist in the education and research development of doctoral level nurses for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the Nation. During the 2-year full-time or 3 year part-time pre-doctoral fellowship program, the fellow is expected to complete a doctoral research dissertation on a topic that is relevant to the care of veterans and generally involves a veteran population. Research interests of the applicant must be relevant to the care of veterans. Fellows are encouraged but not required to seek VA employment after completion of the fellowship.

VAMortageCenter.com Military Education Scholarship

VAMortgageCenter.com offers five bi-yearly scholarships in conjunction with their Military Education Scholarship Program. Eligible applicants include current and prospective ROTC program students, active-duty military personnel with plans to attend college, honorably discharged veterans of the US military, sons and daughters of veterans, and active duty military. To compete for the scholarships, applicants must write and submit an essay based on a prompt found at the company's website in April and October when the bi-annual contests are launched.

Virginia C. Phillips Scholarships

The Virginia C. Phillips Scholarship Fund was established in 1979 to honor Ms. Phillips, a nursing leader in South Carolina whose contributions to nursing and public health nursing are many and varied. She held numerous leadership positions in SCDHEC including State Director of Public Health Nursing from 1972-1979. She also served as President of SCNA from 1963-1965. A scholarship is awarded each year to an undergraduate and a graduate nursing student committed to pursuing a career in community health nursing/public health nursing.
