American Cancer Society’s Doctoral Degree Scholarships in Cancer Nursing

The American Cancer Society is the largest non-government funder of cancer research in the United States.  The Society also sponsors grants in support of training for health professionals seeking to develop their clinical expertise and/or their ability to conduct independent research.  Awarded to graduate students pursuing doctoral studies in the fields of cancer nursing research, education, administration, or clinical practice. Awards are for up to four years, with a stipend of $15,000 per year.

American Legion Auxiliary, Dept. of Arizona Past President’s Parley Nurses Scholarship

This award is granted to a student in their second year or higher, who is enrolled in an accredited institution in Arizona pursuing a degree as a Registered Nurse.  The immediate family members of a veteran will be given first preference.  Applicant must be a citizen of the United States and a resident of Arizona for at least one (1) year.  Money awarded will be paid at the beginning of the school year to the institution where applicant is enrolled in the nursing program.  Final selection will be made by the American Legion Auxiliary through the Past Presidents' Parley Chairman and a committee of three (3) Past Department Presidents.

To assist students pursuing a career in Health Care Occupations. The applicant must be enrolled or enrolling in an accredited, tax-supported institution in Arizona which offers a certificate or degree program in Health Care Occupations. This scholarship is awarded every year to a high school graduate who has chosen nursing as a vocation. $350 shall be awarded the first year with the understanding that $350 shall be given for the second year and $300 for the third year if the student is still in nurse’s training. The applicant must be a resident of Missouri and a member of a veteran's family. The application must be validated by the sponsoring Legion Unit.
