Ship Island - Mrs. J. O. Jones Memorial Graduate Scholarship

The United Daughters of the Confederacy is the oldest patriotic organization in the country because of its connection with two statewide organizations that came into existence as early as 1890 -- the Daughters of the Confederacy (DOC) in Missouri and the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Confederate Soldiers Home in Tennessee. Membership is open to women no less than 16 years of age who are blood descendants, lineal or collateral, of men and women who served honorably in the Army, Navy, or Civil Service of the Confederate States of America. This award was established in 1979 from the Ship Island Memorial Fund in memory of Mrs. J.O. Jones of Gulfport, Mississippi, for her dedication to the Ship Island (Prisoner of War Camp) project. It will be awarded to a graduate student in the field of nursing who is also a descendant of a confederate soldier.

For more than sixty years, Shore Memorial Hospital has focused on optimizing the quality and continuity of healthcare for the southern New Jersey area. With the Shore Memorial Academic Tuition Reimbursement Program, full-time employees are eligible for $3,000 tuition reimbursement per year; part-time employees can receive $1,800 per year. Students using this strategy often take longer to graduate because they typically take a class or two at a time while working regular hours at Shore.

Sigma Theta Tau International Research Grants

In its mission to provide leadership and scholarship in practice, education and research, and to encourage nurses to contribute to the advancement of nursing through research, Sigma Theta Tau offers numerous research grant opportunities. Applicants must be a licensed Registered Nurse with a master's or doctoral degree or be enrolled in a doctoral program. Allocation of funds is based on the quality of the proposed research, the future promise of the applicant, and the applicant's research budget. Applications from novice researchers who have received no other national research funds are encouraged and will receive preference for funding, other aspects being equal. Preference will be given to Sigma Theta Tau members, other qualifications being equal. Annual funding is provided by Sigma Theta Tau International Foundation for Nursing.

SIH Scholarship Program for Healthcare Careers

The SIH Scholarship program is a multi-phase program that marries college scholarship money with work opportunities for students majoring in certain healthcare disciplines. You can receive money for such items as tuition, lab fees, books, educational supplies, and additional money may be available upon request based on individual need. For each academic year you accept the money under the SIH program, you will be obligated to sign a contractual agreement stating you will work for SIH, after graduating, for each year you accept the scholarship. Students who leave school or choose to work elsewhere, will simply repay the scholarship as a loan. SIH Scholarship Program designated healthcare careers are: Registered Health Information Technician, Licensed Practical Nurse, Medical Lab Technician, Radiologic Technologist, Registered Nurse, Respiratory Therapist, and Surgical Technologist.

Society of Pediatric Nurses Educational Scholarship

The mission of the Society of Pediatric Nurses is to promote excellence in nursing care of children and their families through support of its members' clinical practice, education, research, and advocacy. The purpose of this scholarship award is to help SPN members further their professional education. The award will be granted to a member engaged in a BSN completion program or a graduate program that will advance the health of children. The recipient will receive a monetary award and a plaque that will be presented at the annual conference. Applicants must be nominated by a current SPN member or chapter. Members of the Board of Directors, during their elected terms, and members of the selection committee are excluded from eligibility for award nomination.

SONNE Scholarship

The Illinois Nurses Association is the pre-eminent voice for nurses in the state if Illinois. With over 100 years of service to its constituent members, the organization has consistently strived to address issues concerning nurses, resulting in major improvements in working conditions, salaries, and employment contracts for members. The Sonne Scholarship Program was created through a generous bequest from the estate of Maybelle Sonne, a retired nurse, who directed that the funds be used to aid those entering a career in nursing. These funds may be used to cover tuition, fees, or other costs encountered by a student enrolled in a state-approved nursing program which leads to eligibility to sit for licensure examination as a registered professional nurse.

Specialized Training Assistance Program (STRAP)

This program is open to associate degree/diploma nurses who have graduated from an NLN or CCNE accredited program and are currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
program or a Masters of Science in Nursing (Critical Care/Nurse Anesthesia. Recipients receive a monthly stipend of $1,600.
Participants incur a two-year obligation to serve in the Army Reserve for each year or partial year of financial assistance. Students may also receive $50,000 towards repaying their loans.

Steven Cutter Award for Outstanding Undergraduate Student

The Steven Scott Cutter scholarship was established in 1999 in memory of Steven, son of Nancy L. Cutter, Foundation for Seacoast Health Administration Executive.  Steven was a 1989 graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas High School and a 1994 graduate of the University of Connecticut, College of Pharmacy.  The Steven Scott Cutter Scholarship will be awarded at the Foundation's Annual Meeting in April to an outstanding undergraduate student who is a resident in one of the nine towns in the Foundation area in New Hampshire and Maine and pursuing a health-related field of study.
