University Health Systems Health Careers Academic Loan Program
University Health Systems has established a Health Careers Academic Loan program to encourage residents of eastern North Carolina to complete a course of study leading to a degree or certification as a health professional. Students who accept these loans must agree to enter employment with University Health Systems for a defined period of time after completion of the course of study. Repayment of loans is waived upon completion of the work commitment. Opportunities are available at six hospitals and with other health services throughout eastern North Carolina.

University of Alabama School of Nursing Scholarships
In 1949, the Alabama Legislature authorized a collegiate school of nursing at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and provided funds for its support. The School of Nursing was established in 1950 and then moved in 1967 from the Tuscaloosa campus to Birmingham. Today, UAB School of Nursing takes a strong and progressive approach in educating nurse leaders and clinical scholars, conducting research, and providing service. To that end, the School of Nursing has 47 undergraduate and graduate scholarships to offer its students of varying amounts and eligibility restrictions.

VA Postdoctoral Fellowship Program
The purpose of this fellowship program is to assist in the
education and research development of doctoral level nurses for the
Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the Nation. During the
2-year full-time or 3 year part-time post-doctoral fellowship
program, fellow will receive intensive training in research
methodology and techniques and research experiences at a VA
facility under the direct supervision of an established
investigator. Research interests of the applicant must be relevant
to the care of veterans. Fellows are encouraged but not required to
seek VA employment after completion of the fellowship.

VA Predoctoral Nurse Fellowship Program
The purpose of this fellowship program is to assist in the
education and research development of doctoral level nurses for the

Valere Potter Scholarship Fund
Vanderbilt University’s School of Nursing offers a number of full and partial internal scholarships. Full-time enrollment (12 hours per semester) is required to be considered for a scholarship award. Consideration for full scholarships and the amount of partial scholarship awards are based upon an individual's GPA and GRE, GMAT or other standardized test score. All awards are made through the School of Nursing Scholarship Committee according to the requirements of the funding source. This award was established originally by a gift from the late Valere Blair Potter. This scholarship is awarded annually to second year bridge students demonstrating exceptional merit and financial need.

VAMortgageCenter.com offers five bi-yearly scholarships in conjunction with their Military Education Scholarship Program. Virginia C. Phillips Scholarships
The Virginia C. Phillips Scholarship Fund was established in 1979 to honor Ms. Phillips, a nursing leader in South Carolina whose contributions to nursing and public health nursing are many and varied. She held numerous leadership positions in SCDHEC including State Director of Public Health Nursing from 1972-1979. She also served as President of SCNA from 1963-1965. A scholarship is awarded each year to an undergraduate and a graduate nursing student committed to pursuing a career in community health nursing/public health nursing.

Virginia's Nurse Practitioner Nurse Midwife Scholarship Program
This scholarship is open to Virginia State residents of at least one year who have been accepted or are enrolled as a full-time student in a nurse practitioner/nurse midwifery program in Virginia or a nurse midwifery program in a nearby state. Recipients must agree to engage in full-time practice in a designated medically underserved area for a period of years equal to the number of annual scholarship received. Full-time employment must begin within two year of the recipient's graduation date from the program.
