Service League Scholarship for Graduate Education in Nursing
The goal of the Akron General Medical Center Service League Nursing Scholarship is to provide financial assistance for students regardless of race, religion, sex, age, disability or national origin, who are accepted by an accredited college of nursing. Ship Island - Mrs. J. O. Jones Memorial Graduate Scholarship
The United Daughters of the Confederacy is the oldest patriotic
organization in the country because of its connection with two
statewide organizations that came into existence as early as 1890
-- the Daughters of the Confederacy (DOC) in Missouri and the
Ladies' Auxiliary of the Confederate Soldiers Home in Tennessee.
Membership is open to women no less than 16 years of age who are
blood descendants, lineal or collateral, of men and women who
served honorably in the Army, Navy, or Civil Service of the
Confederate States of America. This award was established in 1979
from the Ship Island Memorial Fund in memory of Mrs. J.O. Jones of
Gulfport, Mississippi, for her dedication to the Ship Island
(Prisoner of War Camp) project. It will be awarded to a graduate
student in the field of nursing who is also a descendant of a
confederate soldier.
