Bernice L. Vance Scholarship

This award was named after Bernice L. Vance, a former school nurse, public health practitioner at the Clarksburg-Harrison Health Department, and owner/president of the West Virginia Carbon Company.  Eligible applicants must: be native West Virginians; accept employment as a nurse in West Virginia for one year after passing boards; be enrolled in an accredited nursing program (full- or part-time); before renewal, provide proof that they remain in nursing programs and are making satisfactory progress; and include two character references.  Contact the Director of Nursing at your school for more information and an application.  Five of these scholarships are awarded yearly.

Bernice Pickens Parsons Fund

The Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation Scholarship Program has numerous scholarships established by individuals, firms, and organizations wanting to assist West Virginia residents in obtaining a college education.  This award is given to fourteen applicants who are financially needy resident of West Virginia pursuing education or training in the fields of library science, nursing, and para-professional training in the legal field.

The association provides annual scholarships for students.   Scholarships provide funding for continuing education. Bethesda Scholarships for College Students Entering the Field of Developmental Disabilities

In its ongoing effort to support people with developmental disabilities, Bethesda Lutheran Homes and Services offers various scholarships and awards to Lutheran youth to consider careers in the field of developmental disabilities services. This award is open to Lutheran college students who have attained sophomore status or higher at a college or university. Applicants must have worked 100 hours of paid volunteer work in the field of developmental disabilities and be interested in entering that field as a career.

C.R. Bard Foundation, Inc. Nursing Scholarship

Recognizing the growing need for highly qualified nurses, the C.R. Bard Foundation has established an annual nursing scholarship program.  The purpose of the scholarship is to recognize outstanding nursing students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship, leadership, and extracurricular activities and who are planning careers in the health industry. The award will recognize financial need.  Awards are available to eligible nursing students attending an Independent College Fund of New Jersey (ICFNJ) member institution which offers a nursing program.  Those institutions include: Bloomfield College, College of Saint Elizabeth, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Felician College, Monmouth University, Saint Peter’s College, and Seton Hall University.

CampusRN Scholarship Fund

CampusRN is launching a new scholarship program in conjunction with the creation of the CampusRN state edition network. This nationwide scholarship program is the most comprehensive of its kind for nursing programs and nursing students because it features scholarship winners from every state in which CampusRN launches a state edition site. CampusRN will award a $1000 scholarship to a needy and deserving nursing student in each state on the anniversary of the launch of that state's customized site.
