Keisha A.

New York, NY
RN

What I get back from caring for people is hearing “thank you.” I love to hear that because it lets me know the patient is grateful for the care I’ve given. It lets me know the patients realize how much I really do care about their health. I’m proud to tell people that I’m an RN. I get such satisfaction from my job. I love the feeling I get at the end of my shift when all the babies are quiet and comfortable. That’s when I know I’ve made a difference. In order to be a nurse I have to be sympathetic, caring, selfless, and, most importantly, I have to love caring for people. I know I have all these qualities and that they come through in the way I care for my patients. Nursing takes patience and deep caring. It’s not an easy job, but I know that today I helped someone and that’s a great feeling. I know it’s all worth it when I see the gratitude in the eyes of my patients.
