Long Island, NY
RN, MS, MBA; Emergency Room

When I was in college I had a lot of friends who were nursing majors, and I was always intrigued by their discussions about clinicals and what they were learning. I was also attracted to the stability nursing offered, along with the chance to travel or live anywhere. After doing some volunteer work in a local hospital, I had no doubt that nursing was what I wanted to do with my life. Even so, nursing is more than I ever dreamed. You have the chance to branch out so much. Right now I feel like I’m running my own small business with the ER. I have a budget and employees to manage — it’s amazing. I also used to be a medical advisor for crime scenes and that was really thrilling. I never knew nursing had so many possibilities. I’m amazed at all the opportunities that have been available to me as a nurse. Nursing is typically much more than the general public realizes. Nursing challenges me intellectually and physically — it’s a hard job at times. I’m always active and very fast-paced. It also challenges me to be creative with my time and resources. But the rewards of nursing are amazing. The most fulfilling aspect of nursing for me is being able to make such a difference in someone’s life.
