Craig M.

Jensen Beach, FL
RN; Perioperative

I know I make a difference in people's lives. Sometimes patients can't vocalize what they are feeling so I must be their eyes and ears. I have to do what I can to make them feel safe and at ease. Because things happen so quickly in the O.R., the patients have to trust me. I like working in the O.R. because it is challenging. Things are always changing-new equipment, new patients, new staff. I have to adapt to new people and new situations everyday. I love it though because I use critical thinking skills all the time. Nursing is not by any means a 9 to 5 job. Nursing has been everything I expected it would be. I knew that there would be good and bad days. I have seen suffering and pain, but I have also seen recovery and joy. I love the amount of responsibility I have in my job. I am valued and respected by my co-workers and by my patients. They use me as a resource and truly admire my opinions. The Navy greatly encourages furthering education. I know that as long as I work hard and put my best foot forward, there will be tangible rewards. I love nursing and I especially love nursing in the Navy.
