Rosie W.

Coatsville, PA
RN; Emergency Room

Nursing is a great balance between scientific and interpersonal skills. As a sexual assault nurse examiner, I not only have to know my science, but I'm also there to help comfort the victims, who are obviously in extreme emotional distress. My job is psychologically and physically challenging, but it's very much worth it. I never know what's going to happen during a particular day, and that was part of what attracted me to my job. Nine out of 10 times I see the result of my work almost immediately, and that's a fantastic feeling. I can really see the difference I make. I had no idea that nursing school would offer so many different kinds of career opportunities. I also didn't realize how well nurses are paid, especially right out of school, and the flexible schedules they can have. And with the current nursing shortage, you can't beat the job security - it's great!
