RN, BS, Certified Occupational Health Nurse Specialist, and Certified Case Manager
My first contact with nursing was at age five, when I was hospitalized for a tonsillectomy. I remember being terrified, but the nurse was able to comfort me and reduce my fears. This made a lasting impression and was one of the main reasons I chose nursing. During the past 45 years, I have been involved in many areas of nursing, including medical-surgical, pediatrics, oncology, public health, and visiting nursing. In 1980, I began working at General Dynamics as a staff occupational health nurse. In 1988, I received my BS in Management. Two years later, I was offered a job opportunity that initiated my career with IOLAB Corporation, a Johnson & Johnson Company. At IOLAB, I was responsible for occupational health, wellness, and safety. In 1995, I was promoted to health and wellness field manager, and I became the health and wellness operations manager in January of 2002 I feel so blessed that I have been able to learn from each specialty, and to use my gifts in each instance. I feel I have made a difference, through teachings and educational opportunities, to the employees and their families. I would recommend my specialty to all nurses. I know that I have had an impact on many lives throughout out my career both, personally and professionally. I am proud to be a nurse.
