George G.

Philadelphia, PA
RN, MSN, CRNP, Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner

I was drawn to nursing because I was seeking out a challenging profession that offered the rewards of helping others along with financial gain, job security, and flexibility. While occupational health is not considered a routine specialty for most nurse practitioners, I saw that it could provide me with a unique and satisfying blend of challenges and rewards. Occupational health addresses aspects of health most health care professionals do not fully appreciate. My patients are foremost “employees” whose jobs have impacted their health. Subsequently, in addition to adult health, my knowledge base includes toxicology, industrial hygiene, and safety principles. As a nurse practitioner, I am charged with assessing, diagnosing, and managing the treatment of injured employees. Typically I encounter a wide range of injuries and illnesses – from muscle sprains and chemical exposures to chronic effects such as hearing loss. From the business side, I also work to maintain cost-effective operations while advocating for safer workplaces. Occupational health is a unique and diverse field. My advanced practice degree allows growth as a clinician, leader and manager. Together they offer a satisfying and lifelong career. Occupational health allows me the ability to effect positive change to the health of people — one employee at a time.
