USAF, NC, RN, CNOR, Instructor, Nursing Service Management
The most enjoyable aspect of nursing is the ability to help
people in many different ways. By the fact of being a professional
nurse, we hold a position in society that is above or different
than others. I have found that people in my community look up to me
as a nurse. As nurses we are able to provide assistance, advice,
and nursing care in areas that most would never dream. We help at
the soccer field, teach Girl Scouts safety and first aid, and
listen to an elder at church. All of these are everyday
interactions that nurses are specially trained to do. I have
provided surgical care in a war-like environment. I have cared for
the Yupik Eskimos on their land. Both of these I would not have
been able to do without my skills as a nurse. I am a Perioperative
nurse, however I began as a generalist and that has been my
foundation for success. I currently am an educator, teaching
management to new nurse managers. I am an officer, professional,
leader, and educator, but I am still doing what I was trained for
and love to do. I am a NURSE.

Every patient is different and that’s what makes nursing so
special. For me, patient interaction is definitely the most
rewarding aspect of the job. Nothing makes me feel better ...
