Jacquie L.

Fairmont, MN
RN, Long-Term Care

When I was 16, I put on a crisp white dress and went to work at my local nursing home; I was off on the career that I would spend my life doing. I have tried other areas of nursing, but have always held a position at a nursing home. My love for the elderly is what it's all about for me. Experiencing life through the eyes and souls of the elderly – the sparkle in their eyes when they talk about the "Good Old Days" and the tapping of their feet when they hear a familiar song on the radio. Things are not perfect every day, but when you are having one of those days, and a patient says "Thank you, honey," then suddenly your heart melts and your day is good again. I am proud to be a Long Term Care nurse, and would encourage other nurses to take a look at Long Term Care Nursing. Through nursing, you become a friend, companion, confidante, healer, and family member. Nursing is the best!
