As a condition of the loan, a student must declare their intent to practice as a nurse in a designated health professional shortage area in New Mexico. The award is dependent on financial need and open to New Mexico residents who are accepted by or enrolled in a program of nursing at an accredited New Mexico public post-secondary educational institution.
