We are excited to announce that the Campaign has renewed its support for the AACN Minority Nurse Faculty Scholars Program. This program is designed to address the shortage of nurse faculty and enhance diversity among nurse educators. This collaborative effort provides generous financial support, mentoring, and leadership development to graduate students from minority backgrounds with aspirations to teach in our nation's schools of nursing.
AACN is currently accepting applications from students for the next round of scholarship awards. The deadline to apply is May 2, 2012, and new award recipients will be announced in August 2012. To download an application, visit www.AACN.edu.
Hearst Foundation's Excellence in Geriatric Education Awards
As part of its intensive focus on teaching how to provide the best care for older adults, the National League for Nursing (NLN) is now accepting award applications for Excellence in Geriatric Education. Designed to recognize schools of nursing that demonstrate exceptional instruction and innovation in the care of older adults, this inaugural award is the first step in a multi-year competitive awards program. Twelve schools of nursing will be selected for this prestigious honor between 2012 and 2015.
Applications are due by May 1, 2012 and will be judged by a national review committee of experts in geriatric education. Awards will be presented at the NLN's 2012 Education Summit in Anaheim, Calif. in September 2012. Additionally, the winning schools will present their innovative approaches to teaching geriatrics at the Advanced Care Excellence for Seniors (ACES) pre-Summit workshop.
