The Promise of Nursing for Washington Gala Recap

October 2012

As part of our ongoing commitment to help alleviate the nursing shortage regionally, the Campaign hosted its Promise of Nursing (PON) for Washington gala in Seattle on October 10. This was the third PON gala to be held in the state of Washington, for a total of nearly $1 million raised from PON for Washington events!

Nurses from across the state attended this month’s event to celebrate the industry and help raise funds to support the region’s nursing community. Funds raised from the gala will be used for undergraduate nursing scholarships, fellowships to prepare nurse faculty and grants to Washington nursing schools to help expand their program capacity. One hundred percent of the event’s proceeds will remain in the state of Washington.

We Want to Know Your Inspirational Stories!

Calling all Nursing Notes readers – do you have a touching story about a time when you made a difference in the life of a patient or colleague? We want to know about it!

Our December issue of Nursing Notes will feature personal stories from nurses who have gone above and beyond their daily responsibilities to better the lives of others. We want to share your stories with other nurses as a source of inspiration, especially as the holiday months can often be a difficult time for nurses, patients and their families.

A couple of tips to keep in mind as you're sending us your stories:

  • Speak from the heart and be yourself!
  • Try to limit the story to 250 words (we may edit for brevity)
  • Please don't mention any patient names (be mindful of HIPAA)

If you have an inspirational story to share, please send your story and contact information to nursingnotes@gcihealth.com. We will pick the most inspirational ones to include in Nursing Notes and on the Nursing Notes by Johnson & Johnson Facebook Page!
