National Diabetes Month

November 2013

Did you know that in the United States, approximately 26 million people are living with diabetes and 79 million more are pre-diabetic? Diabetes is a serious disease that can affect every part of a person’s body and can shorten life, yet many do not know they are at risk.

“The key to successful diabetes self-management is an educated and well-informed patient. The nurse is a member of an ensemble of healthcare professionals who can help patients and their families problem solve, cope effectively and live healthy lifestyles,” said Mary Beth Modic, DNP, RN, CDE, clinical nurse specialist (CNS) in diabetes at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.

In honor of National Diabetes Month this November, several brands across the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies are collaborating through the Healthy Essentials platform to help raise awareness of diabetes and provide care tips, tools and information useful to those living with the condition.
