Get to Know Martin, Ph.D., RN, in the Campaign’s New “A Day in the Life” Video

January 2014

Martin, Ph.D., RN, a nurse scientist, worked in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) early in his career, but not before serving his country as a medic in the U.S. Army. He now works as a researcher and nurse educator, and continues to work directly with bedside nurses to help them put the latest research into practice.

“I love my job because I get to do various things,” said Martin. “One of the benefits about becoming a nurse was that it enabled me to pursue a career in academia and get my Ph.D.”

Currently, Martin and his family stay busy converting his home into a self-sustaining farm where he can grow and raise his own food. “This is a dream come true,” he said. “If it wasn’t for nursing, I don’t know that I would have had the flexibility or resources to get it done.”
