Workforce Shortage Student Assistance Grant Program

The Workforce Shortage Student Assistance Grant Program award is open to current high school seniors and degree-seeking undergraduate and graduate students. Students who wish to be considered for the Living Expenses Grant must also file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Each recipient is required to sign a promissory note with the Maryland Higher Education Commission stating that he or she will fulfill the nursing service obligation. That obligation requires the recipient to serve as a nurse on a full-time basis: one year for each academic year, or portion thereof, that tuition assistance was received; or on a part-time basis: two years for each academic year, or portion thereof, that tuition assistance was received.
