As a child, I valued the importance of giving back to the community. My desire to enrich the lives of others shaped my upbringing and attracted me to a career as a registered nurse.

My undergraduate studies in Healthcare Management and Policy, at the Georgetown University School of Nursing and Health Studies, helped me understand the ways in which the law greatly impacts both the cost and delivery of healthcare. During an internship at Georgetown Hospital, I had the opportunity to shadow a nurse practioner. The nurse practitioner’s commitment to serving others was paramount. The internship reinforced my desire to become a nurse and placed me in excellent position to exert considerable influence on healthcare policy. Furthermore, I obtained my bachelors in science in nursing from Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing. As a medical-surgical registered nurse at Washington Hospital Center, I am a healthcare leader, who helps my patients return to the highest level of functioning and as an RN, I hold my patients’ safety and care in my hands, and I must always advocate for them to the best of my abilities. I look forward to continuing to improve the health and wellbeing of all people through education and advocacy.
