Rose Parade® Float Honors Nurses and the Nursing Profession

December 2012

Sally M. Bixby, RN, MS, CNOR is the first nurse to serve as President of the Tournament of Roses (TOR), and only the second woman to hold the position, the result of 23 years of volunteering for the TOR. Her term will culminate with the Rose Parade® on January 1, 2013.

During the parade, Bixby will be honored with a float dedicated to nurses and the nursing profession. The Nurses’ Float, “A Healing Place,” was designed to celebrate, honor and thank nurses – the design reflects the qualities of nurses with words inscribed on the base: caring, commitment, compassion, confidence, conscientiousness and intelligence.

The 124th Rose Parade® will be broadcast on ABC, Hallmark Channel, HGTV, KTLA (Tribune), NBC, RFD-TV and Univision on January 1, 2013 at 8 a.m. PST. Check your local listings for program information.
